You don't need to be a member in order to support our work or combat for free software philosophy. Free Software Association acts on a basis of participation and self-management. In this context, anyone who devotes zis* labor to the association and works for it can have a say in the association. For this reason, the legal membership procedure is predetermined as a long and difficult process. In the Free Software Association, it is not the titles but the labor.
The Free Software Association accepts members within its statute. FSA has three basic type of membership:

Associate Members: Members who supports the association financially in order to back association's work.

Members: Pursuant to paragraph 5/1 of the statute of the association, they are legal members of the association, who form the General Assembly, who have the right to choose and take part in the organs of the Association.

Honorary members: They are members who are respected in the society for their work on the aims of the association, they gained their status with the decision of the General Assembly.
Associate Membership
It's so easy to become an associate member of FSA, you can just become an associate by sending an SMS. You can start your membership with texting OYD to 8071 in Turkey and approving the response. Your registration will be completed after sending your personal information (Name, e-mail and phone number) to uye {on the server} oyd.org.tr. Your personal information will be keeped under our Privacy Policy.
Legal Membership
The procedure of legal membership is explained below:

In association, there is registration periods in four months intervals. You can apply for memberships in any of this periods.

The applicant may either hand over the application form or mail it to the association. If you want to hand over the form, we strongly recommend to contact us, because the association HQ may not always open. The association will reply your application within 30 days.

The applicant is obliged to actively participate in the work of the association as of the registration period. In this context, even though one-fifth of the annual activities are declared by the statute, all participants of the association have the right to talk on this matter. Participation is the most important part of the membership process as an indicator of belonging.

The applicants are have to pay dues in the amount of associate member's. If you are a student, unemployed person, worker with minimum wage, disabled or parted in similar groups, the board may provide discount on dues according to your situation.

At the end of the one-year application process, with the proposal of one quarter or 10 members of the association, the applicants are nominated for membership and their membership is voted at the next General Assembly. Following the acceptance by the General Assembly, the applicants are admitted to the association as a member.
